Hi lovely, I’m Aimée, a soulful copywriter . Here, on my Substack, I share seasonal tales from my little corner of the Cotswolds. I write about food, heritage, books, travel, creative living, and whimsical musings. Come on in, take off your boots, and cosy up by the fire. I’ll pop the kettle on.
Dearest reader,
I’ve been struggling with my singledom this month. I broke up with someone (I thought I was going to marry) a few months ago, and although my heart is fine, it is a little bruised.
All the Valentine’s marketing is getting to me. So, I thought I would turn my monthly ‘could-do’ list into a form of self-love.
Buy rhubarb, not roses. The leaves and stalks look beautiful in jars.
Visit a specialist bakery for pastries. (I love Landrace in Bath).
Re-watch the 1995 adaption of Pride & Prejudice.
Write your future lover a letter.
Buy a magnificent silver tray from a charity shop and have a scrumptious breakfast in bed. I’m thinking lemon curd yoghurt, golden croissants stuffed with goat’s cheese, blueberries and a drizzle of honey. (Served warm, of course).
Put on a long coat and go stomping across a heath.
Read ‘Fair Rosaline’ - a Romeo & Juliet retelling.
Bake these simple Persian love biscuits.
Buy yourself Cornish daffodils.
Ask your friends round for a girl’s night.
Paint something. (I’ve just redone my living room in this glorious colour from Edward Bulmer).
Go and watch a matinee at the theatre.
Have a dance party in your kitchen. (This song is currently my favourite to dance to. )
Buy a tiny box of champagne truffles and devour them as you do the crossword.
Remember that real love is out there. You haven’t missed it. It’s coming.
Great list; all about the self-love pick-me-ups <3
I love your list. Rhubarb stewed with orange juice and sugar is lovely with Greek yogurt
