Hi lovely, I’m Aimée, a soulful copywriter . Here, on my Substack, I share seasonal tales from my little corner of the Cotswolds. I write about food, heritage, books, travel, creative living and whimsical musings. Come on in, take off your boots, and cosy up by the fire. I’ll pop the kettle on.
“Let us live like flowers—wild and beautiful and drenched in sun." - Ellen Everett
Have your morning cup of tea on your doorstep, revelling in the stillness of early morning.
Read ‘Tom Lake’ by Ann Patchett. It is summer in book form. (Meryl Streep narrates the Audible version. Achingly beautiful.)
Do yoga outdoors.
Get takeaway pizza and drive to a local beauty stop. Eat it with the windows rolled down and Lana Del Rey on the radio.
Visit a pick-your-own flower farm.
Make a bounty of Italian food. Eat it outdoors under twinkling lights and lanterns hung in the trees.
Bake cherry pie.
Watch the sunset every evening.
Have a lazy Sunday swinging in a hammock with your favourite independent magazine.
Go to an antiques fair.
Stock up on strawberries for Wimbledon. (With Pink Gin Cream from M&S).
Find an outdoor cinema screening near you.
Go wild-swimming in a lake.
Make grilled peaches and banana splits.
Take a picnic blanket, iced coffee and a book to your local park.
Drive to another town for ice cream, just because.
Spend as much time as you can soaking up the golden sunlight.
Strew edible flowers on everything.
Dress up like it’s the 1950s and spend a day at the beach.
Go on a vintage caravan holiday.
Oh my, I haven’t had banana splits for so long. Yes, I should definitely make them this summer!
These are all so delicious and lovely ideas. I've just downloaded Tom Lake on audiobook. Hopefully whilst listening to it I'll be convinced it's summer and won't notice how miserable and dreich it is outside! ☀️
